Choosing the Right Window Film

Window tint film varies significantly in quality, performance, and technology. At the entry level, non-ceramic dyed films offer privacy and UV blocking at an accessible price. Ceramic films go much further, using advanced nano-ceramic technology to reject significantly more infrared heat without affecting signal reception for phones, GPS, or toll transponders. At Luminescent Detailing Co., we carry three film options across our window tinting services, ranging from a reliable standard film to our top-performing ceramic option that rejects up to 99 percent of infrared energy. All three are available for front windows, all sides and rear glass, and the windshield.

A Cooler, More Comfortable Cabin

Ceramic film options block a substantial amount of infrared heat, which means your cabin stays cooler on hot days and your air conditioning does not have to work as hard. The difference is noticeable from the moment you get into your vehicle, especially during the warmer months in the Lake Zurich area.

UV Protection for You and Your Interior

Quality window film blocks harmful UV rays that cause fading, cracking, and deterioration of your vehicle's interior surfaces over time. Beyond protecting your upholstery and trim, it also reduces UV exposure for you and your passengers on every drive.

Window Tinting FAQs

  • What is the difference between ceramic and non-ceramic tint?

Non-ceramic films like Prime CS use dyed layers to reduce light and provide privacy. They offer solid UV blocking and a dark appearance at an accessible price. Ceramic films like Prime XR and Prime XR Plus use nano-ceramic technology to block significantly more infrared heat while maintaining excellent optical clarity and zero interference with electronic signals. For drivers who spend a lot of time in their vehicle or experience hot summers, ceramic film is well worth the investment.

  • Will window tint affect my phone signal or GPS?

All three of the film options we carry are signal transparent, meaning they will not interfere with your phone, GPS, radar detector, or toll transponder. This is one of the key advantages of quality window film compared to older metallic tints that could cause signal issues.

  • Can you tint just the front two windows?

We offer three coverage options including front two windows only, all sides and rear glass, and the windshield. Many drivers choose to tint just the front windows to match the factory privacy glass on the rear, or they start with the front and add coverage later. Our team can help you decide what makes the most sense for your vehicle.

  • Is windshield tinting legal in Illinois?

Illinois law permits a non-reflective tint strip along the top of the windshield. For full windshield coverage, we offer near-clear film options that provide heat rejection and UV protection while remaining compliant. Our team will walk you through your options and help you choose a solution that fits both your needs and local regulations.

  • How long does window tinting take?

Most window tinting appointments can be completed in a few hours depending on the number of windows being tinted and the film selected. Our team will give you a more specific timeframe when you contact us for a quote.
